Tesco Automation was proud to take part in DISTRIBUTECH 2025, the largest transmission and distribution event in North America. Held March 24–27, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, the event brought together utility leaders, innovators, and technology providers to explore the future of grid modernization – and Tesco Automation was front and center at the event.

Utility University Course UU304: Fundamentals of Digital Substations

The tradeshow was kicked off with Utility University session UU304: Fundamentals of Digital Substations, led by Tesco Automation’s own Dustin Tessier, Darren De Ronde, and Mohammad Yeasin Razib. This interactive, four-hour course blended essential IEC 61850 concepts with hands-on demonstrations using a live vPAC/RTDS setup, giving attendees practical insight into digital substation design and testing.

Throughout the exhibition, attendees experienced Tesco Automation’s cutting-edge vPAC demonstration live at Advantech Booth #6725. The hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) demonstration featured:

Advantech server running ABB’s Virtualized Protection SSC600 software
Real-time testing using RTDS simulator for seamless HIL applications

The demo showcased firsthand how virtualization and real-time simulation are advancing the future of grid resiliency!

vPAC Alliance Gala

Tesco Automation also participated in the vPAC Alliance Gala, hosted at the OMNI Dallas Hotel. Dustin Tessier, Managing Director of Tesco Automation, moderated a panel discussion on the importance of training and education in accelerating vPAC adoption. The evening concluded with another live demo featuring Crystal Group servers integrated with Typhoon HIL simulators, highlighting the cutting-edge innovations that are redefining the future of substation automation.
